Monks in Hodunk

Today is 11-30-08. I'm on my first break from chemo. For two weeks. Another good thing, we are stepping down the steroids with no adverse effects this time. When I get off that, I'll be off two medications. Very exciting to me.

Linda and I are at the Creative Health Institute in Hodunk, MI. Kind of returning to my roots. Hodunk is in the Tekonsha post area. Tekon was my first post. Hodunk was a dot on the masp 38 years ago. It still is. We are hoping to learn to prevent disease and reverse the effects of disease, brain cancer in particular with a healthy diet. Linda and I love ice cream. We rarely indulge in it anymore, but tonight, we learned why. A typical serving of ice cream is roughly equal to 24 strips of bacon as far as being detrimental to heart health. I love bacon as much as ice cream. Bacon flavored ice cream anyone?

We'll be locked in here. like monks for two weeks. Well, not exactly like monks....

I'll probably update quite often as we learn new stuff. Don't worry. No preaching, but an open invitation if any of you want info on eating, we'll probably be a pretty good source to start with. We both believe eating properly can help cure disease.

Linda and I are very well. We are strong, brave and looking forward to the challenges ahead. Thank you for your thoughtrs and prayers. You have taught me to regain my faith and pray. I believe you are helping to save my life.

Tom,

Not sure if we have ever met. I am Paul and Joan Schaefer's son, Kevin. You have been in our prayers since mom and dad told me about your fight with the evil that is cancer. I have lost a couple of friends to this evil and I am glad that you are doing well in this fight. Keep up the good work, exercise and the right foods are good for your mental strength as well.

Based on your comments and the picture, I am confident your positive attitude and the many prayers will allow you to fully heal.

Our continued prayers are with you and enjoy the Christmas season with your family.
