No wonder!

Tom underwent another scope and this time they aspirated fluid for testing from the cyst on his pancreas. They decided to remove one half of the fluid while they were at it. Would you believe that removed a liter? No wonder he was in pain and didn't have an appetite. That monster of a cyst was pressing into his stomach as well as everywhere else! They decided to leave some in there so that they can watch to see if it fills up again. They think that he has had pancreatitus for a long time and I do remember him having years of abdominal cramping on and off that we attributed to his chlesterol meds. Little mysteries are making sense. They are in the process of testing the fluid (which had old blood in it). The docs inserted a nasal feed tube yesterday. He just isn't eating enough calories to gain some weight back. He promptly pulled it out by accident while itching his nose during a nap. Sheesh! It is back in and Tom agreed to have his reach restricted for a couple of days so it won't happen again. We agreed that he is at a new low, visually and we had big, good natured smiles over it. The nasal tube is a test to see how he tolerates the "food" and will be followed with a more long term (don't know how long) tube through his side directly into stomach on Monday or Tuesday next week. The doctors said he will gain weight at a fairly fast rate and thus have energy to do physical therapy and gain muscle and strength. Our goal is to get back to chemo. We still want to get back to the main attraction...that gulldarn tumor. Keep us in your prayers with emphasis not only on the cure but also patience. Thanks everyone. Linda

What a little bit of relief to finally know what was causing so many problems. Take a bunch of deep breaths and think of all the loving thoughts, prayers and big hugs surrounding you both. You both are fighters and positive thinkers. We are all here for you and cheering you both on! All our love,
Shawn, Jon, Trevor and Jenna

While we are on the subject of thanking God, Remember that you need to pray to keep the bad guy away too. He can try to take your focus off of the main prize by making all these little bumps in the road. And the poop head will try to distract you more often the more you pray and try to focus on the result you want. I know it is enough of a full time job just trying to get well enough to continue being healed but be vigilant...We are praying for you and where two or more are in agreement...God is right there. Claim Tom's healing and OWN IT.

Love,

Sam, Isaiah, and baby April
