Things are moving along
Today brought some good news. The gastrologists paid us a visit this afternoon to let us know that there is NO blood in the cyst on Tom's pancreas. They think that the dark matter is just old pancreatic tissue. Monday they will drain the cyst. There are two ways to do it. The first way in externally, with the advantage being they can see what is coming out. The disadvantage being that the "shell" of the cyst might grow around the tube going in and would have to be surgically fixed in the future when it is removed. The second option is to do a scope into the stomach and basically punch a hole and put a stent from stomach to the cyst. The fluid would flow into the stomach and be absorbed. The advantage would be that when Tom is recuperating he would be freer to move without restriction. The disadvantage is that he would have to get CTs to check out the progress more often. They are still thinking about it. We are hitting the the esophagus problems with diflucan in an IV. He should respond quickly to that. He is eating lots of small meals. I mean small, like about seven or eight bites, but it's a start. I think that he won't fill up so fast when the cyst is drained. Seems to be pushing into the stomach. Hope that wasn't too graphic for ya, but we love that pieces of the puzzle are coming together. Got a surprise visit from Mark and Jill Curby...old friends from Ypsi days that have lived in FL for years. This week-end is all about eating and "exercising." Tom is sleepy, but happy and optimistic. Linda

Hi Tom and Linda,
Just wanted to let you know that Cory and I are thinking of you both from down here in Cincinnati. We wish we were closer, so we could visit, but we talk often with my parents who keep us updated as best they can. We are so inspired by your courage, your strength and tenacity, and we pray every day for your healing and recovery. If you have any questions, or anything I can help with from a medical standpoint - please don't hesitate to ask. If I don't have an answer, I will find one for you! We love you both and hope to see you soon! Love, Andria & Cory
Sending lots of positive thoughts and prayers your way from the frigid north!Thinking of you.

We are so glad to hear the positive progress being made. It sounds like the doctors are doing a wonderful job figuring out what is going on. I'm sure you both are going stir crazy but Spring is just around the corner which always brings sunshine and smiles :-) Hope to talk to you soon. Love, Shawn, Jon, Trevor and Jenna.
