Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers and all of the e-mails. Before the surgery last night, I shared everyone's e-mails and blog comments with Tom and Linda. It was fun to see them laugh and smile at the thoughtful messages that everyone sent.
Tom went in to surgery at 8:00 this morning. Linda and I met with the doctor about an hour ago when the surgery was complete. Tom is doing well and he came through the surgery with little or no complications. He may have some drooping on the right side of his face since they had to cut through some muscle, but these and other effects should be mitigated through physical therapy.
The surgeon reported that the procedure went as planned and we will have the pathology report within 7 - 10 days. Tom is recovering and we are waiting for ICU to call when he is awake.
I'm not sure how long I'll be here at U of M, or how long my folks will have to stay. I'll try to post again this evening with more information. In the meantime, your thoughts, prayers, and kind e-mails have meant so much to us.
Even if you've already dropped us a line, feel free to send my dad another message. I'm sure he would like to hear from you. It'll be a while until anyone is around a phone, but I will keep this page up to date.
