Laurie and I are at the hospital with Tom right now. We came here under some pretty lousy circumstances. My dad kept falling at home and started having mini-seizures so my mom and her brother Mike brought him in yesterday (Monday). He has been so weak and dehydrated and pretty unresponsive to people visiting or talking with him.
We had a parade of family and friends in to see him today. There were a lot of tears and sadness from the visitors. But we had a very interesting turn of events this afternoon. Tom's oncologist excitedly pulled us from the room to show us the results of an MRI that they took at 3:00 this morning. Amazingly enough, the tumor has shrunk to a small fraction of its original size. The images show it to be a little puff of white where before it looked to be larger than a 1/2 dollar with some tendrils reaching from it. This is amazing news for us and we hope that it will get my dad excited enough to start eating and drinking on his own. He perked up quite a bit from the news and started taking more liquids right away.
Today was a very busy day for everyone. Tomorrow we're going to try to give him as much time to rest as possible while we learn more about what to expect for the near future. We'll make sure to post as more news becomes available. Your thoughts and prayers are always appreciated, so keep 'em coming!
