Week six of chemo and day 25 of radiation started today (I think). It is all running together but going just great!
Last Thursday I got outstanding news from my medical oncologist. Without a lot of detail, my blood counts are totally normal. Radiation and chemo attack blood, hair, skin and the digestive system along with the cancer cells. Because I'm tolerating the treatment, there is no need for a break from chemo. He wants to stay aggressive with the treatment. I'll get two two week breaks at the end of November and the end of December, then will get on a regular 21 day chemo cycle.
Today, I got more good news. This time from the radiation side. Normally, toward the end of the therapy, they step down the dose as they get focused on the tumor (or in my case the tumor site, because it's gone). I'm tolerating the radiation without trouble so they will not phase it down. More aggressive treatment, what more could you want!
We went to the barber the other day, for the last time for awhile. I looked like a mangy coyote, hair here, hair there, no hair mostly. The barber Nick, always curious about my treatment, laughed and said "you're a freak of nature." What little hair I had left was cut and Linda is shaving my head now. Linda and I both like it. A lot.
I thought about dressing up as Frankenstein for Halloween, no hair, a very impressive head scar, All I needed was a bolt or two through my neck. I was too lazy. We only had 10 trick or treaters anyway. Lots of news since last week, all good. The medicine is powerful, Linda and I are well and we are strong and my new found faith in God will bring a cure.

Hi Tom and Linda, I have tears of joy! God is so good and always at work on our behalf...I'm so glad that He gets the GLORY! Prayers are already being answered! Thank you Lord!
Love and hugs, Niki
Tom, you are an amazing man. I know that you and Linda were put into my life for a reason. I love you so much!
Hey Frankenhundt,
I've been keeping up on the progress, and am not suprised in the least. Obviously the Doc's didn't know who they were dealing with. The Hundtenater is from a different planet. Who else could be shot, break legs, fall off ladders, have walls fall on him, and then let a little bump on the brain slow him down. Hell, Arnold would have thrown in the towel by now. I'm sure the Big Guy upstairs would love to have you by his side, but he must have bigger plans for you down here, with the rest of us mere mortals. It sounds like you've got this beat, and will be ready to put on some real miles on the bike this summer. (NO...I don't want to ride to Missouri for lunch.)Hang in there you friggin animal. Do some heavy pulls for me....first blood rules!! TROMS
All I can say is what a team! You two rock. What an inspiration you both are. Thanks for the updates. I would say keep positive but that's a given in your world...you don't know any other way. Miss you both!
Shawn
