In the spring, David and several brothers and nephews helped us build a 200' long picket fence. It still needed paint.
On 9-28-08 my friends from work and their spouses and several members of of our families, showed up for a work party. Not only did we get the entire fence painted, but our vegetable garden got dismantled and hauled out in the field to be composted. We all enjoyed a great pot luck dinner afterward.
I posted this to express our deepest gratitude to our friends and family. I figured we would get it done, but it would take a week or more of hard work in the spring. Things like this humble and amaze us with the generosity of the wonderful people close to us.
Linda's sister, Pam Oakes, has been a huge help to us too. I call her our "home manager" She moved in when this all started and has kept our house running smoothly, has been our conscience about healthy eating and is very fun to have here. She takes care of all the lousy jobs and has made has made our lives much easier.
By the way, after a week of chemo and radiation therapy, I feel good and strong and have surprised the doctors because I haven't needed the anti-nausea stuff (I'm already getting enough poison!) Linda and I think we have a lot more surprises for them.
